Palestine Announced Fastest Growing Tourism Destination Worldwide

UNWTO announced Palestine as the fasted growing tourism destination for the first half of 2017.

MoTA and the Palestinian private tourism sector celebrate UNWTO results placing Palestine as the fastest growing tourism destination in the 1st half of 2017.

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MoTA) together with the private sector and civil society met at the ministry’s headquarters in Bethlehem to celebrate Palestine being crowned as the fastest growing tourism destination worldwide for the first half of 2017.

57,8% Rise in Arrivals

According to most recent statistics compiled by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Palestine is this year’s fastest growing travel destination with an 57,8% rise in international arrivals compared to 2016.

The event was attended by many tourism stakeholders from across the value chain. The Minister congratulated Palestine and the private sector for this accomplishment which comes as a culmination of the hard work over the past few years. Her Excellency re-iterated the importance of continued cooperation between the public and private sector to ensure that this growth continues.

HLITOA President, Sami Khoury presented the Minister with a plaque of appreciation on behalf of HLITOA for her leadership and commitment to the tourism sector.
